Brief introduction

During very successful events of German Film Week in Prishtina, Kosova, for the last two years we achieved to bring the biggest one week movie events in our capital City.

One week film events happened thanks to the great cooperation among German Liaison Office in Pristina, netz|werk|film Münster Germany and Concordia Pictures Prishtina on the organizing side of it, and a special thanks to our traditional sponsors: ProCredit Bank (main sponsor), Ministry of Culture in Kosova, Goethe Institute, Volkswagen Baki, Euro Koha, Vihuela ( School for Classic Guitar ) and Press and Media support. The German Film Week since 2005 has become a traditional event in Pristina City, showing every year one week of German culture. During seven days feature films, short films, children films, documentary films were shown. More than 1.400 spectators attended the screening in 2005, and more than 1100 in 2006.

The successful work between Germany and Kosova and the audience is leading us to the third German Film Week in Pristina. The basis, which was found years before, it's looking to be more extended every year, while bringing together the both sides of the cinematography in all film fields. It is a one week initiative for German and Kosovar institutions, individual producers, director, actors, financiers, broadcasting representative, distributors and funding institutions who are operating in international culture development and possible co-productions in order to encourage contacts between possible co-production partners and/or financiers between Germany and Kosova for further high-quality joint projects.

This year special is the OSCAR winner film “THE LIVE OF OTHERS”. This film won the Oscar this year, (a film that took more then six hard years to be completed, with a marvel's casting actors, directing and perfect team work) and it will be shown here to the Kosovar Audience. It is a privilege and honor to have a movie like this in our event. Also we are looking forward to bring the director of the film, producer and few actors.

With German Film Week in Prishtina, we want to develop a kind of 'Home tradition' for the German and Kosovar film makers who will be attending the film week, a platform, great opportunities to make business contacts and new approaches to co-operations between two countries, German with a great film industry experience in the world, and Kosova with a lot of brilliant ideas and unused places for film industry having the chance to fulfill the gap of co-production projects.
